To begin the day with a cuppa and read some good worded articles from the paper is a luxury I never take for granted. Most of the times i have the plans up to my neck and more, that its difficult for me to remeber the last time I had so much time on my hands.
It began as a normal lazy sunday. A sunday where I had the luxury of having a nap just after a nice big healthy breakfast. I love sundays especially the ones that includes a few laughs.
It's valentine's day and I was not prepared to get out of the house and face the crowds!!! I took solace in the comfort of my home, to be more specific my TV room and my futon. I think my day would have gone by with me lolling around the house in my pyjamas, if pratima did not have to pick up something from central. I must stress on that fact that it was compulsory and the fact that she is here on a visit from delhi that made me even agree to that trip!
we decided to walk to central, and it's actually in my back yard..to quote prats's!!! The walk was chaos, you dont know where to put your next step.. there is no footpath, even if its there, some great citizens have decided to pile it with stones and sand and concrete. A few even have parked their cars on them. So your battling the traffic of people and vehicals to make sure you reach your destination in one peice. Gone are the days where you could animatedly chat with freinds while walking with no real care in the world. Every step you take you are dodging stubborn people and rubbing against moving cars, colliding with vegetable carts all this done in silence and by walking one behind the other as there is no place for both of us.
Pity how jayanagar has changed in the name of develeopment, but somewhere in the middle I realized that I can still smell the fresh corriander on the carts, can still see my favorite pani puri wala in the corner, the ladies tailor bustling on the machine so in a way nothing is changed, but things have been just added on to the same page.
Central was like my biggest fear streaming with people it was like they were coming out of the floor, the ceiling and the walls.. unable to handle anymore crowd and the crying children, we just plonked at the noisy food court just taking in the sounds of the gaming center that lures children and adults, cacophony of people decideing where to sit, what to eat and when to leave.
In the midst of this chaos we managed to enjoy a plate of biryani and grab a cup of coffee... I say what's a meeting without coffee and discuss our plans, fears and the future - whatever we expect of it!! So basically this new structure of glass and cement, not to mention the fact that its just behind my apratment helped us enjoy the day whatever was left of it. Amazing isnt it.. of what comes out of progression!!
Here's wishing the rest my freinds a happy valentines day:)
